Anyway, with the first paragraph came tears, and the same came with nearly every subsequent paragraph. At every turn the interview was doused with authenticity and revealed an attitude about family that I thought was becoming "old-fashioned".
The beauty of the Obama presidency isn't soley held in policy or political views, but also in the fact that the Obamas fill a void this country has been carrying for far too long. The Obamas are a family, not terribly dissimilar from my family or Amanda's. The children make their beds, a parent goes to parent-teacher conferences, and they pick up their toys.
While it may take a great many years for us to evaluate, I think this resurgance of family in the spotlight will impact us far more than a well drafted piece of legislation. We will heal this country when we heal the family and I think the Obamas are crystal clear about that too.
