Chris did that to his dad's computer a few summers ago. The hard-drive was fine but the screen was busted. They just plugged an external monitor into it and use it. You could use an external monitor and a wireless keyboard/mouse. It's not ideal but it's a lot cheaper than getting the screen fixed.
Doesn't Apple do amazing things...like give you brand new computer screens?...It would be nice, huh?
Mar: Apple is so amazing that my computer repaired itself after running the repair program. Ok, not really. But it is getting fixed after running: Operation 350 bucks!
EA: Thanks for the tip. Totally what I've been doing this week, but can't work as a long term solution. Thus, a new screen has been ordered.
Yeah, I am blog stalking...this happened to us too. Only it was a kid of mine that did it. UGGGH
