VeggieTales

As I review the contents of my posts, I realize a great many are dedicated to vegetables. I suppose that should trigger a part of my brain that says, " Dude, your life is really boring." Alas, no such alarm is sounding. Here's the real deal, it's my blog and I like my life, so yet again, here is another post about Vegetables.

Recently, I've been scouring the grocery stores, markets, and local farms for fresh, reasonably priced, organic produce. I've grown quite weary of bright red yummy looking tomatoes that look delicious but crunch like an apple. Some may describe this searching behavior as out of control, grandmother-like, all consuming, and down right crazy. To those I say- whatever, I'm getting good vegetables, biotch. Anyway, I've been faring OK, but it takes a great deal of energy and time to get good stuff. Last week,I stumbled upon an amazing way to save all that time:

This farm, Farm Fresh To You, delivers locally grown organic produce right to my door! I've signed up for a small box delivered every 2 weeks. I'll likely up the ante, though; the produce is just that good. The best part is, it is CHEAP! All these veggies

showed up, ready to be eaten, for $23.00! You can't really see everything here, but the contents included: beets, broccoli, red chard, collard greens, parsley, 4 oranges, 2 grapefruits, 2 red onions, and a head of green leaf lettuce.

Don't live in the Bay Area, but want some great produce? Google "CSA" or "community support agriculture" and your city. Most places have them. Memphis and Nashville have a few each, as does SLC and Chicago. The price and contents vary based on your growing region and season, but it beats Safeway or Kroger produce by a mile!

Yall are crazy about some veggies. Lord knows I need more. I'll admit some of that stuff intimidates me and my basic cooking knowledge :)

JEALOUS!!! I will have to look that up for sure. I really try to give Porter as MUCH organic as I can. He is so frigging sensitive that I want him to have the best food and JUST that...nothing extra and gross added in/on. It is difficult to find organic produce here, though. We did just have a whole foods open up, and that is pretty much AWESOME. I did have to buy blueberries non-organic the other day, and call me crazy, but it creeps me out just thinking about what is on them. I wash like a freak! I will definitely be checking this out! xo
